Hey Bruce -

Time to come out of hiding.....

Sometimes when I turned the ignition switch on - the engine will kick just a little. Not hitting the starter - just sending electricity to the coil - etc. Am I just igniting left over gas in a cylinder when I put spark to the coil? Wouldn't the dizzy have to be right at one of the contacts in the cap to get spark at a plug? Or do I have some spark splatter in the cap??? Help me OB1

Remind me again which ignition system you've got at the present.

If the unilite is lined up right that stuff can happen, as soon as you energize the dizzy and the window is lined up with the light it could trigger a spark and ignite any gas vapor present in the cylinder.

Honestly, I don't have any experience with that distributor. Is it a magnetic pick-up or IR or points? I can imagine a spark happening when you energize an IR if the trigger is lined up just right maybe. I can imagine a spark happening if there's a lot of ozone (that dust) has built up in the cap. Otherwise, I've never had that happen.

How about you Lee?
