can i put my 68 bug body on a irs 69 ghia pan?
does anyone know where i could get a 3 rib bus tranny for one the irs frame?
if i stick with the regular transaxle case, what would be the best gearing for a mild 1915 that does street as well as dirt.
would someone please explain to me what the benefit of having the bus tranny is? couldn't i get the same performance from a pro street and a regular case?
also, i will be selling my 68 bug pan and a one year old stock swing tranny. i will be posting them as soon as i get the other pan. send me a pm if you might know anyone who is interested. i know some people look for the 68 swingaxle for a bus or something. lucas, if you read this and want the tranny for your bus you have first dibs.... |

i better not add any more threads, so ill ask another question here.
if i have to buy a new irs transaxle for my baja, should i just get a bus now while everything is taken apart? im not trying to jump it 30 feet... and i would like to drive it on the street a good amount. im just worried that with the bus it'll be a pain to drive in traffic and stuff. first and second will be super short.
will a built PROSTREET tranny be just as strong? or am i just wasting my money. i found a 3 rib for 250 and a 6 rib for 500. i know the 3 rib will work.... but would a 6 rib be overkill? or should i do it while i have the chance. the guy said the 3 rib was out of a rolled bus and should be just fine, and the 6 rib was recently rebuilt so i know that would be a good one.
i know it'll cost a little more to get a 10 degree mount and new axles. if i get the 6 rib ill have to change bell housings too and thats even more money. but if i ruin a $700 prostreet tranny its practically the same thing. i have a 1915 so not too much power. thats not to say i wont upgrade some day.
or i could just get some cheap type 1 trannys for $50 and blow through them
im just very indecisive |
